School support

Finding your way through Luxembourg's schools

Luxembourg offers a wide choice of schools: the public system with its multilingual teaching, public European and international schools, and private schools with different programmes. Choosing between them, or helping your child through a change of school, can feel complicated, especially if you are new to the country.

Education consultants and school support services can help you compare options, understand how admissions work and prepare for key steps such as the move from primary to secondary school, when an orientation decision is made at the end of the école fondamentale. Homework help gives children a calm place to work and someone to explain what they did not understand in class. When choosing support, ask about experience with your child's school system and languages, how progress is shared with you, and whether the approach suits your child. Your child's teacher remains an important partner, so talk to them early. For official information on schools and enrolment, the Ministry of Education and your commune are the best sources.
