Finding a reliable home cleaner

A reliable cleaner can give a busy family its weekends back. When you compare options, first decide whether you want a cleaning company or an independent cleaner. A company usually arranges a replacement during holidays or sickness, and its staff are employed and insured by the company. With an independent cleaner, you often build a closer, long-term relationship.

Ask what is included: kitchens and bathrooms, ironing, windows, or a deep clean before moving out. Agree on products, especially if your children or pets have allergies or you prefer eco-friendly cleaning. Trust matters when someone has your key, so ask for references and start with a trial visit. If you employ a cleaner directly in your home, Luxembourg has a simplified declaration procedure for household employers through the Centre commun de la sécurité sociale (CCSS), which covers social security registration. Check the current rules before your cleaner starts, and keep your agreement on hours and pay in writing.
